What is the difference between a painter and a Certified Journeyman?

In Washington State there is no state certification for painters or contractors and anyone for a small fee can be a paint contractor with no testing. A Washington State license, bond, and insurance are not enough, and do not certify them.

A certified Journeyman and or contractor has had either testing, schooling, certified in products, a union Journeyman card and or all of the above. Certified means taking a test and passed.

How long should my paint job last?

Most homes will last 7 to 10+ years depending on your siding and paint. ASL Painting, Inc. wants your home to last as long as possible because we have an investment in your community and also want your referrals as well. So the longer it last and the more beautiful it is, the better it is for us as well as you in the long run. We do offer lifetime Warranty's as well.

Do you back roll smooth siding like (LP, Weyerhaeuser, Hardy board)?

NO, never, it would not make any sense to spray a smooth siding and then roll part of the paint back off. It would also take 3 to 6 coats with a brush or roller to match the amount and quality of a paint sprayer.

Test: Take a smooth counter top and with a damp sprung wipe it. Now take a spray bottle and spray it several times. As you can see the spray application can put a better amount of water on.

What is Pre-Screened?

Service Magic screens a contractor for quality, honesty, and being Ethical along with making sure there are no judgments against a contractor and that they are current on there bond, insurance and licensing.

How good is your guaranty?

A guaranty is only as good as the company. If the company is out of business in six months then that’s it. We have been around for three generations and stand by our work 100%. We offer a 2-year minimum with every job and an extended 5-year. If a company does not give at least 2-year guaranty then they do not trust their own work. Also some of our Paint stores are now offering a lifetime guaranty as well.

Note: Any company that shows up in un-marked vehicles should be looked into further. Also please check and or ask for proof of a Washington contractor’s license and proof of schooling and or references as well.

You should not consider a company that will tell you they can start in the next day or so. If they are not that busy then how good are they? Also, company’s that offer you or advertise a larger then 10% discount are desperate for your work and will probably not do a good job as well. Your house is your largest investment so please look over a company and choose wisely.

New painting company’s start up every year and are out of business within 6 months. Some other company’s just want your paint job knowing it will not last, but we want your friendship, referrals, and to make sure your job last as long as possible.
